AI – An Inspiration and a Challenge

Many technologies have influenced the artistic processes. Think about the advent of photography that brought about countless debates about the authenticity of a work and whether it is human-made when technology also plays a role in the process? So how are new technologies different such as Stable Diffusion, Runway, Midjourney and DALL-E different? How do the generative models affect the artists of today and the future?

The data used to generate new images are created by all of us – the models train on large datasets based on content found online. What are the possibilities for artists, who don’t want their work to be included? Is it career suicide to remove your content from the models? And is it even possible? Does the right to be forgotten exist online? The Internet disrupted the business models in the creative industries and with AI this is going to happen again – who gets the money made on the images? The companies or artists? I have an idea of which direction we’re heading in – once again the producers of content are getting f….
