Bio
Throughout her career, Majken Overgaard has explored the synergies between technology and contemporary art, focusing on the transdisciplinary space where art, science, and technology intersect. Her work connects complex knowledge domains and brings them to a wider audience.
In her practice as an independent curator and writer Majken Overgaard places a strong emphasis on collaborations that transcend disciplines and focuses on the artistic processes. In 2025-27 she is curating and facilitating Soon – Lab for Possible Futures together with Copenhagen Institute For Futures Studies, Nicklas Larsen and Bikubenfonden. In the past she has been working with VEGA, The National Gallery of Denmark, Christiansborg – part of the National Museum of Denmark, Kronborg, Aarhus Festuge and many others.
Her role as an external lecturer at the IT University of Copenhagen from 2015-2022 has naturally evolved to include giving talks at various venues, primarily focusing on the intersection of art and technology.
She has been heading Catch – Center for Art & Technology in Denmark for six years from 2017-2022. Founded in 2016 with the support of the Elsinore Municipality, Catch takes a practice-based approach to collective learning and the development of artistic processes. The programming evolved holistically from an ongoing and ever-extending dialogue with the large network of partners.
She has gained a number of trusted positions. In 2023 she was appointed by the Nordic Ministers of Culture as a board member of the Nordic Institute on Ă…land for the term 2023-2025. Furthermore, she has served as a member of advisory boards for international research projects and the EU, Creative Europe.
