Book Club for Possible Futures

How can imagination drive real systematic change? And what role does science fiction in our understanding of society?

In the Book Club for Possible Futures we read science fiction because we believe art can open pathways towards the transformations we need. Situated at Soon – Lab for Possible Futures in Copenhagen, we meet once a month to discuss how sci-fi-novels can provide alternatives to todays political, technolocial and ecological landscapes. The Book Club has been running since August 2025 and each season we focus on a new theme.

Imagining Other Technological Futures

This autumn, we will read science fiction through the lens of technology, using literature as a way to imagine alternative technological futures. Together, we will explore what technology might look like if it served different values, communities, and relationships with one another and the planet?

We will dive into classics such as Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (1818) and Philip K. Dick’s Ubik (1969), alongside contemporary works such as Charlotte Weitze’s Ulvemælk (2025).

The Book Club for Possible Futures is created in collaboration with Rentemestervej Bibliotek.
